Does SMSTS make someone a competent site manager?

SMSTS supports management knowledge, but competence also requires suitable experience, behaviour, authority and understanding of the specific project. Employers must assess the individual for the role being assigned.

Does a CSCS card replace site induction?

No. A role card does not replace a project-specific induction, task briefing, RAMS review or local rules. Each site presents different access, emergency and operational arrangements.

Why is COSHH relevant to a surveyor or site engineer?

Surveyors and engineers can enter areas containing cement, fuels, contaminated ground, dusts, resins or industrial chemicals. They need to recognise exposure risks and confirm that suitable controls are in place.

Who is responsible for checking certificate validity?
