WORKFLOW

How to prepare a defensible as-built tolerance report

  1. Control the design information. Record the approved drawing, model, revision and coordinate system used for comparison.
  2. Confirm acceptance criteria. Obtain written horizontal and vertical tolerances for each construction element.
  3. Use verified survey control. Complete suitable checks before measuring the as-built work and retain raw observations.
  4. Match identical features. Ensure each measured point represents the same physical location and design definition.
  5. Review exceptions. Investigate failed or borderline items, record evidence and assign corrective action or formal concession.
  6. Independent check and issue. Have a competent checker review the comparison before the PDF is transmitted or used for acceptance.
How is horizontal deviation calculated?

The reporter calculates ΔE and ΔN in millimetres, then uses the vector length √(ΔE² + ΔN²). Vertical deviation is assessed separately using the absolute ΔRL.

What is WARNING?

WARNING means the observation is still within tolerance but has reached the selected percentage of either the horizontal or vertical limit. It provides an early review band; it is not a contractual classification unless agreed.

Does PASS prove the construction is acceptable?

No. PASS applies only to the coordinates, tolerances and records entered. Dimensions, completeness, survey uncertainty, workmanship, design intent and other requirements may also govern acceptance.

Where is project data stored?

The current register is saved locally in the browser and is not uploaded by this tool. Export controlled project copies because browser storage may be cleared.
