CAD and DXF reading questions
Can the tool open a DWG file?
No. Native DWG is a proprietary binary format and is not parsed by this browser tool. Export or convert the drawing to ASCII DXF using trusted CAD software, then open the DXF version.
Is my drawing uploaded to the website?
The application reads the selected text file locally in the browser. It does not intentionally upload the drawing to a Site Survey server. Normal website hosting, security and analytics arrangements still apply to the page itself.
Which DXF entities are supported?
The viewer supports common 2D LINE, LWPOLYLINE, CIRCLE, ARC, POINT, TEXT, MTEXT and simplified INSERT markers. Unsupported or complex entities may be omitted from the display.
How are drawing units handled?
Coordinates and measurements are shown in the native values stored in the DXF. Confirm whether those values represent millimetres, metres, feet or another unit from the approved drawing information.
Can I use measurements for setting out?
Do not rely on a browser measurement alone for critical setting out. Verify the approved revision, coordinates, datum, units, tolerances and control using suitable professional CAD and surveying workflows.
Why are some objects missing?
The file may contain blocks, splines, hatches, 3D objects, external references, proxy objects or binary content outside this lightweight viewer’s supported entity set.
