Stockpile & Excavation Volume Calculator
Upload a DXF, DWG, or CSV file with coordinates and elevations, select a reference elevation, and calculate the actual cut/fill volume of a stockpile or excavation.
What This Tool Does
Purpose:
This tool allows you to calculate real-world volumes for stockpiles, excavations, or earthwork areas. You can upload a DXF, DWG, or CSV containing surveyed points (Easting, Northing, Elevation). After selecting a reference elevation (datum, formation level, design level, or ground plane), the tool computes:
- Cut Volume
- Fill Volume
- Net Earthwork Volume
- 3D geometric interpretation of the stockpile
- Surface area and bounding box
Supported Use Cases:
- Stockpile measurement
- Excavation volume
- Borrow pit estimation
- Earthworks progress tracking
- Site engineering calculations

Frequently Asked Questions
We support DXF files with polyline or point data, DWG files with 3D or 2D survey points, and CSV files containing columns for Easting, Northing, and Elevation coordinates.
The tool uses triangulation methods to create a 3D surface model from your survey points, then calculates cut and fill volumes relative to your specified reference elevation or datum plane.
No, you can upload raw survey points. The tool automatically performs Delaunay triangulation to create the surface model needed for volume calculations.
Currently, the tool processes one stockpile or excavation area per upload. For multiple areas, process each file separately and combine the results manually.
Accuracy depends on your survey point density and quality. With properly surveyed data at appropriate intervals, results are typically accurate to within 1-2% for engineering applications.
